Improvised Conversations

Remember the last time you went off-script?

It happens to all of us, a client presentation takes an unexpected turn; a sales meeting gets sidetracked; the plan you laid out has to be scuttled. Even for the best of us, we are called to improvise.

At The Conversation Hub, we have a saying … through conversation, life happens and finds meaning. When a conversation takes an unexpected turn and requires you to improvise – you have an incredible opportunity to create meaning.

In my “day-job”, I am called to build and strengthen relationships with existing and potential donors.  No at day goes by when I am not having to change course, pivot or improvised.  I think about the research we do on a prospective donor and craft a strategy around the patterns we see only to find out that they are passionate about something completely different.

Improvised conversations can be beneficial. Going off-script is often the right thing to do.  An improvised conversation can be a source of inspiration and the cornerstone to a more meaningful relationship.

So, next time you find yourself in the midst of an improvised conversation, don’t sweat it.  Use it as an opportunity to inspire and to be inspired.

Maybe we should change our tagline and have it read: through “improvised” conversations, life happens and finds meaning.

Be well and make it a great day!
