Play

Losing a loved one is never an easy thing. Losing your father after he’s battled and suffered through kidney cancer, is no walk in the park.

Our guest for Episode 7, Jesse Godzala, experienced just that and now, with all the drive and passion you can imagine, he’s taken that difficult, personal experience and using it to make a difference in the world.

In August of 2010, Jesse, his sister and three of their friends, will embark on a 10-day journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and, in doing so, raising money and awareness for kidney cancer. During our conversation, we explore how Jesse is getting ready for this major adventure.

About Jesse Godzala & Kidney Klimb

Jesse Godzala is the founder of Kidney Klimb.  After a ten-year teaching career at Foley High School in Foley, Minnesota, Jesse now works as a realtor with Edina Realty in St. Cloud, Minnesota.  He lives in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, where he spends most of his time working and training.

The Kidney Klimb is an annual fundraiser dedicated to helping kidney cancer patients and their families in central Minnesota. Supported by the CentraCare Health Foundation and Kidney Cancer Association, Kidney Klimb founder Jesse Godzala will lead a group of hikers to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro this year to raise money for the Coborn Cancer Center. In memory of their father, Thomas Godzala, all proceeds will be used to assist low-income families with the costs of medical care.
