For the past few weeks, my mind has been racing with possible ideas for my podcast, for my websites and for my new CD. I’ve also had some great conversations with two friends about taking the idea and product that is The Conversation Hub to the next level. I’ve been looking at ways to monetize this little project and the conversations have been inspiring.
What I’m starting to figure out (yes, I realize that on some fronts I’m a little slow) is that inspiring conversations are just the first step. These conversations have to be followed up with action. Taking the first step can be nerve-wracking, but we’ll never get where we want to be if we don’t take that first step.
I’ve been in conversation with a good friend about this he’s helped me understand the following two things:
- It Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect: When I started my podcast I didn’t have the right equipment and I wasn’t quite sure how all of it was going to come together. What I did however is this – I called on a few friends and asked them to join me in conversation. The first few interviews weren’t perfect but they got me started. Episode 1 helped us get to #20 and that helped us get to where we are today. Don’t fret over all of the details. Do what’s possible now.
- Don’t Lose Sight Of Your Vision: When you start something new it’s easy to get discouraged. It’s not going to be easy. I;ve had episodes that have had tremendous downloads and others not so much. There are days when the traffic to my site barely registered a pulse and on other days the traffic doesn’t seem to stop. This project has been full of peaks and valleys. In the moments when I’ve questioned the value, I’ve had to remind myself of the vision I had for the podcast and do what’s possible now.
I shared this thought in a post a few weeks ago: “The distance between where you are and where you want to be is doable. All that is required today is one BOLD first step!” It doesn’t have to be perfect and it certainly won’t all happen at once.
Take the first step. Do what’s possible right now.
Be well and make it a great day!
